Crossroads Care Wessex aims to support people in their own homes and have a strong philosophy of “helping with” rather than “doing for”, thus assisting people to maintain their independence wherever possible.

The needs of family and friends who are carers and the people they care for are all considered to be of equal importance. Research shows that supporting carers as well as the cared for person can significantly delay a person’s admission into residential care and also reduce the readmission rates back into hospital following discharge.  This is not only better for the individual’s well being but can save up to £37,000 in care home fees.

Getting Started

Once you have decided that Crossroads Care Wessex is the right homecare agency for you we will produce a care plan that forms the basis of the service agreement between us.  This will be decided jointly and will set out all of the main things that you need help with paying particular attention to any specific care needs that you may have due to health problems or frailty.  Naturally, the personal needs of the cared for person will be the top priority for staff but we are always happy to undertake domestic tasks for you whilst we are there if you would like us to do so.  The service is time based, which means that when you book a service slot your Carer Support Worker will be there for that time and will not rush off as soon as they have fulfilled the jobs on your list. So, if you’d like a cup of tea and a chat, or help with a crossword, we will happily do that.

We are proud of the quality of the service that we can offer you but we also work hard to ensure that we can meet the needs of as many people as possible. This means keeping the staff thoroughly up-to-date with on-going training and undergoing specific training to acquire the skills needed to care for a particular individual wherever possible.

Ongoing Monitoring

We will regularly review your care plan to ensure that we are giving you the best service that we can.  Often, people’s needs change over time and it is important that your care plan reflects that.  If you need a change to your care plan at any time, just call us and we’ll get straight onto it for you.

Carer Support Workers maintain accurate records at all times of each visit. They are directly supervised by our Deputy Manager.  Spot check visits are made to check that everything is as it should be and you are happy with the service being given.

Complaints

Crossroads Care Wessex operate an open and robust complaints procedure which is freely available to anyone who asks to see it.  But you can rest assured that if there is anything that you are not happy with then we will deal with it quickly and discreetly ensuring that there is no embarrassment or awkwardness for you.  This is especially so where you are not happy with the Carer Support Worker for any reason at all.
